5. People on the move this week

People on the move in and around the political this week included Reserve Bank Head of Communications Mike Hannah, Xero CFO Sankar Narayan, Australian media and casino mogul James Packer, former Fletcher Building chair Ralph Norris, former Landcorp chair Traci Houpapa and NZCTU President Richard Wagstaff.

The Reserve Bank announced Head of Communications Mike Hannah had decided to leave the role on August 10 after 16 years, although he will remain as board secretary.

Justice Minister Andrew Little appointed former policeman and ex-National MP Chester Borrows appointed to lead an advisory group tasked with fixing New Zealand's criminal justice system. Little announced the formation of the group ahead of the Government's criminal justice summit, Hapaitia Te Oranga Tangata, scheduled for late August.

Secretary to the Treasury Gabriel Makhlouf appointed former Landcorp chair Traci Houpapa and NZCTU President Richard Wagstaff as new non-executive directors on the Treasury’s Board. They replace Ralph Norris and Whaimutu Dewes. The board was set up in 2010 as an advisory body for Treasury's CEO and executives. Houpapa is the chair of the Federation of Maori Authorities. Wagstaff was National Secretary of the Public Service Association from 2000 to 2015.

Te Mangai Paho CEO Larry Parr announced that Te Anga Nathan, had been appointed to the organisation’s new role of Pou Arahi Hōtaka (Head of Content) from July 23. Nathan has been the Head of Communications and Digital at Te Wananga o Aotearoa since 2014. He has previously worked as Executive Online Producer at SBS National Indigenous Television was General Manager of News and Current Affairs at Maori Television. He has an MBA from Henley Business School in London.

Xero appointed Kirsty Godfrey-Billy as its new chief financial officer, replacing Sankar Narayan, who was CFO with Rod Drury before the co-founder stepped back from managing the company. Narayan, currently Xero’s chief operating and financial officer, will leave the company he joined in 2015 at the end of this calendar year “to pursue other opportunities.” Godfrey-Billy has been with Xero since 2016, working alongside Narayan as the leader of Xero's global financial operations team.

James Packer resigned from the board of Consolidated Press Holdings as he continues his recovery from mental illness, the company said. He resigned from the board of Crown Resorts in March for the same reasons.
